Using drawing(s), discuss how you would construct
a heritable (germline) fluorescent gene reporter

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We should isolate the gene from the blastocyst cell. Now fused this gene with fluorescent gene reporter. Now insert this gene in the blastocyst cell. Find the recombinant ones from non recombinant ones by seeing the expression of fluorescent gene expression in the cell And allow the blastocyst to divide. The blastocyst give rise to whole body. That's why there is found fluorescent gene in all the body of the cells.

Since the body has fluorescent gene. The germ cells also have this fluorescent gene. It will produce gametes which have the fluorescent gene. In this way, the fluorescent gene becomes heritable in nature.

Consider the set S={0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14}.  Suppose you construct a subset of S by drawing elements randomly from S without replacement.   What is the minimum number of elements this subset must contain such that you can guarantee that at least one pair of elements in the subset sums to 18?

Two Fluorescent compounds A and B are present in a mixture. Using a spectrofluorimeter, how would you determine the quantity of A in the Mixture if - A absorbs radiation in a region where B does not? - Both A and B absorb in the same region but A emits fluorescence at different wavelengths than B.
