What determines if an effector T cell will become memory T cell?
a. High IL-7 receptor expression.
b.Low IL-7 receptor expression.
c. More antigens present.
d.Increase expression of apoptosis signals.
C. More antigens present. Memory T cells are formed from effectors T cells. Naive T cells are generated in thymus. When these naive T cell get exposed with antigen, T cells differentiated into effectors cells and memory cells. Most effector cells are removed by apoptosis after elimination of pathogen. But some long-lived T cells will retain for quick immune response upon re-exposure of antigen. These are memory T cells. Memory T cells trigger a quicker and stronger immune response after encountering the same antigen because they are previously exposed to specific antigens and recognize efficiently. More antigenic exposure determines the formation of memory T cell from effector T cell.
