Life history of sticlebacks :

The sticlebacks are a fish family who mainly feed on other animals and usually live about an year.During this period they usually survive only for a single spawning period and die before the next.

a.Due to the above mentioned life history sticklebacks are semelparous meaning they have only one reproductive event in their lifetime.

(Iteroparous means they produce offpring multiple times in their lifetime)

They are r selected meaning they exhibit high growth rate and produce many progeny and usually do not enter the adult phase.

(K selected are usually for specifies that have multiple reproductive episodes and eneter adulthood and has high chances of survival)
