In a population of a Malaysian beetle there are individuals with red, or purple, blue, or white eyes. Genetic studies indicate that the eye colors are conditioned by alleles at the R locus. A cross between red-eyed and white-eyed individuals give all red-eyed offspring. Blue-eyed beetles crossed to white-eyed ones give all blue-eyed progeny. Red crossed to blue may give only purple-eyed progeny, or some with red eyes and others with purple eyes, or some with blue eyes and others with purple, or offspring among which all four eye colors occur.
In the original collection of 2,000 individuals, 720 had white eyes, 900 had red eyes, 260 had blue eyes, and 120 had purple eyes. Apply a procedure and calculate the frequency of the different R alleles in this population.
