Interspecific relationship |
Describe each interaction. State whether each species is harmed, benefits, or is unaffected by the relationship. |

Parasitism |
Under natural condition organisms live together influencing each other life directly or indirectly. They are interacting each other at many purpose like food, space . reproduction and protection. these interactions are important fpr survivalfor diggerent species and the comunity as a group . Population of two species may interact on basis of neutral or unaffected by the relationhip, possitive or benifited, and negetive or harmed ( 0, + ,and - ) combinations as follows-
Interspecific relationship | Describe each interaction. State whether each species is harmed, benefits, or is unaffected by the relationship. | Example |
Predation ( + -) |
Predation is a one type of interaction where one species is benifited and the other species is harmed. Here the benifited species is known as predators who kill and eat the other species for survive . And here the other species who had been killed by the predators is known as prey. |
Example; In case of bear they have to eat fish for their survival. Because fish has consumed protein which is very essebtian for bear. So here bear is predator and fish is prey. |
Herbivory ( + -) |
Herbivory is a one type of interaction where one species is benifited and the other species is harmed as like as predation interaction or parasitism. Here the benifited species is the plant material consuming animal or also known as primary consumer and the harmed species is green plants or producers . |
Ex; Goat and grass interaction is known as herbivory where grass is producer or harmed by the primary consumer or goat who is benifited. |
Competition ( - -) |
In this type of interaction two species are competiting for the same resource and both of them suffer or affected adversly. |
Ex; mainly two tyepes of competition are occur one is interspecfic competition ( occurs between two differeb species ) and other is intraspecific copetition ( occurs between two indivitual of same species) |
Commensalism ( + 0) |
It is a type of symbiotic interaction where one species is benifited and another one is neither benifited nor harmed or unaffected by the realtionship . |
Ex; Epiphytes use trees or branches of trees for support without harmed or benifit to the tree |
Mutualism ( + +) |
It is a type of symbiotic interaction between the members of two different species who are associated each other and both are benifited . More over, the growth and survival of both population is benifited . |
Ex; Rhizobium , Nitrogen fixing bacteria live in root nodules of legumes where the bacteria derive nutration from legume and fix atmospheric nitrogen andmake it avaible for the plants |
Parasitism ( + -) |
In this type of interaction one species benifits for growth and reproduction and othe species is harmed . The harmed species is called as host and benifited species are known as parasites. |
Ex; Taenia solium , a parasite with human as primary or definite host and pigs as secondary or intermediate host. |
