What evidence supported the hypothesis that in response to the correct day length (really night length) a flowering hormone was traveling throughout the plant?
The hormone is called Florige .
This is a hypothesis hormone which has not be en found.
But their are evidence for its presence-
The duration of day and night, that is photoperiod is reciev s by leaves in the plants. So, this Florige hormone produced in the leaves only after getting optimum light hours per day. If this is not given or less photoperiod is provided the plants fo not flower. Thus, it gives the evidence that there is some Florige hormone produced in the leaves and travel to floral branch for flower initiation when optimum light period is provided.
