Question

Which RNA will determine the amino acid sequence? A)dRNA B)tRNA C)mRNA D)rRNA

Which RNA will determine the amino acid sequence?

A)dRNA

B)tRNA

C)mRNA

D)rRNA

Homework Answers

Answer #1

There are three types of RNA - mRNA, rRNA and tRNA.
mRNA :-
• mRNA is formed during transcription process in nucleus and it has information for amino acid synthesis. mRNA goes through translation process and protein is synthesized on mRNA.
• The codon sequence of mRNA is a three nucleotides sequence which encodes for a specific amino acid.
• The codon sequence will determine the sequence of amino acids.
Hence, mRNA determines sequence of amino acids.

tRNA :-
• It transfers amino acids to the site of protein synthesis.

rRNA :-
• It is component of ribosome which provides site for protein synthesis.

Now in question,
Option (C) mRNA is correct answer.

dRNA is not a type of RNA.

A codon is a series of three bases in mRNA which is equivalent to the 3 bases in DNA; this triplet code corresponds to one amino acid. Once the mRNA is attached to a ribosome, it can assemble the protein by translating from the “language” of nucleic acids to the “language” of amino acids. What is the processed called? In order to synthesize a protein molecule, amino acids need to be aligned in the proper sequence along the RNA sequence....
