What are the most numerous inhabitants of a sandy intertidal area?
seastars
worms and nematodes
snails and clams
meiofauna
All the above mentioned species are abundant in the sandy intertidal zone but meiofauna exceeds the macrofaunal population sometimes in biomass. Meiofauna is nothing but small benthic invertebrates which are larger than microfauna but smaller than macrofauna. But interestingly, meiofauna comprise sof small nematodes, snails and clams (small molluscs) and species such as crustaceans, echinoderms such as sea stars, etc. So, all of the answers seems correct but the meiofaunal population exceeds micro and macrofaunal population.
