It is a reversible disease that can be cured by oral hygiene.
However, it can lead to inflammation and tooth loss without treatment.

Symptoms:
1. Swollen gums
2. Pain in the gums
3. Bleeding in the gums
4. Bad breath

Cause:
Bacterial plaque

Risk factors:
1. Age
2. Poor dental care
3. Smoking and alcohol consumption
4. Genetic factors

Treatment:
Most treatment procedures are aimed at the removal of plaque.
Scaling, root planning, and flossing
Mouthwashes containing thymol, eucalyptol, menthol and methyl salicylate.
