The most common STD is chlamydia which is caused by bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis. It can infect both men and women. Women can get chlamydia in the cervix, rectum or throat. Men get chlamydia in the urethra, rectum or throat.

Chlamydia is transmitted by oral, vaginal or anal sex with someone who has the infection.

Symptoms of chlamydia:

In women:

1. Abnormal vaginal discharge which may have strong smell.

2. A burning sensation while urination.

3. Pain during intercourse.

In men:

1. Discharge from penis.

2. Burning sensation while urination.

3. Burning or itching sensation around the opening of penis.

4. Pain or swelling in one or both testicles.

Treatment for chlamydia:

Antibiotics course of seven days is used as a treatment for chlamydia.
