The morphology of rats and humans are entirely different from each other , but they share surprising number of similarities with each other.These includes physical , physiological, behavioral, and social . Rats are used in testing medicines because of these similarities with human . both suffer same disease.

Physical-both are mammals, similar organs, warm blooded, similar kind of hormones to regulate body functions, nervous system

Physiological- both rat and human have ability for metacognition.

genome-human have 23 pairs of chromosomes ,while rat have 21 pairs and mice have 20 pairs of chromosomes.
