Describe the sexual reproductive structures of mosses (i.e. the structures that produce gametes). Contrast them with liverworts. Contrast them with ferns.
Mosses creates sexual structures depending on the species and weather condition. One is the Archegonium, which is the female structure that produces egg cells. The other isthe Antheridium, which is the male structure that produces sperm cells. These structures can occur on different parts of the same plant, but more often they are present in different plants. In the case of Liverworts, the sexual parts are contained in small and inconspicious structures. In the case of ferns, a haploid spore grows into a haploid gametophyte. The sporophytes produces spores, completing the life cycle.
