A novel natural product (ABC000) was isolated and tested for its antibacterial activity in E. Coli. When analyzing RNA transcripts of E. Coli treated with ABC000 compared to untreated E. Coli, gel electrophoresis showed longer RNA transcripts in treated samples. Bacterial growth studies showed that as the concentration of ABC000 was increased, the growth rate of E. Coli decreased. The researchers believed ABC000 was inhibiting a key step in bacterial RNA metabolism. Propose a site of inhibition for ABC000.
