2.The DNA is the genetic material which encompasses all the necessary information for the survival and proper functioning of the cell and the organism.In the process of cell division DNA replication becomes important to maintain the integrity and indentity of the organism because each divided cell should requires the same information as that of the parent to bring out proper functioning.

This process happens during the S phase of cell division and the mitosis or meiosis only happens after the proper replication takes place ensuring the information is passed to the daughter cells.
