Explanation: Protists are a diverse group of mostly unicellular eukaryotic organisms (no complex tissue) . They are free-living or live symbiotically with other organisms. This symbiosis can be mutualistics (between termites and the protists that live in their gut.) or parasitic. They does not form a monophyletic group rather form a paraphyletic group. The animal-like protists are protozoa (amoeba), the plant-like photosynthetic protists are algae (diatoms, Euglena) and fungi-like protists are slime molds. So, protists  share a common ancestor with plants, animals and fungi.
