Please describe two enrichment media plates, How do they work and what information do they give you about the bacteria?

Enrichment media :

1. These are the media which are enriched with certain known,selected growthfactors.
2. This allows growth of certain microbe based on enriched media and inhibit other microbes.
3. The other microbes in the enrichment medium do not due but they couldn't flourish their growth as main species of enrichment medium.

Example:

1.Selenite F broth plates:

These broth plates contains nutrients that allows growth of Salmonella and further prevents growth of other microbes.

2.Chocolate agar medium:

This medium is used for isolating pathogenic bacteria.This media allows growth of fastidious bacterium such as Haemophilia influenza and Niseeria.These bacteria require NAD( Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide ),hemin for their growth.As these two factors are present in chocolate agar it permitts growth of these bacteria inhibiting others.
