The replacement model states that all homo sapiens evolved in africa, then spread out to europe and asia.All the lesser-evolved human species of that time (eg neanderthals) became extinct, leaving Homo sapiens as the only remaining human species. However it is also said that the other species did not become extinct, but instead were assimilated into the modern human gene pool.
