If a mutation occurred in a gene that increased only tue dominance variance (VD) while all other variance components remained the same. Would the narrow-heritability increase, decrease, or remain the same?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Narrow heritability remains the same.

Since narrow heritability do not depend on dominant variance, it remains same. All the other variance are constant so narrow is also constant.

Broad-sense heritability, H2 = VG/VP, is the proportion of phenotypic variation due to the effects of additive, dominance, and epistatic variance. Narrow-sense heritability, h2 = VA/VP, refers to the proportion of phenotypic variation , Vp,that is due to additive genetic values (VA).
