A deletion of seven nucleotides occurs in the promoter sequence of a gene. Which is the most likely result of this change?

a missense mutation

a regulatory mutation

a silent mutation

a nonsense mutation

a frameshift mutation

Answer #1

Ans- Regulatory mutation

Regulatory sequence consist of sequence which are associated in expression of particular gene. It does not code for any amino acid. The mutation which changes the codon read by tRNA are further classified into missense, nonsense and silent mutation. But any mutation which occurs in the regulatory region that includes promoter, enhancer, operator etc is termed as regulatory mutation. As these mutation impaired the peptide development.
