If a sperm cell has 16 chromosomes, how many chromatids will be in a cell at prophase I of spermatogenesis
Ans: In meiosis cell division, there are formation of 4 haploid daughter cell from single parent cell, which are not identical to parents cell. Meiosis cell division occurs in two step meiosis I and meiosis ll. Before undergoing to meiosis cell division, parents cell passes through the interphase. Interphase consists of G1,G2 and synthesis phase. In S phase the no. of chromosomes is duplicated and one chromosomes consists of two chromatids. After duplicated of chromosomes parents cell enter into the meosis l cell division. In prophase l the one chromosomes consists of two chromatids. Hence if sperm cell contain 16 chromosomes, then it is consist of 32 chromatids in prophase l of meiosis l cell division during spermatogenesis.
