Klebsiella pneumoniae is a facultative anaerobic, gram negative, rod shaped bacteria.

Domain: Bacteria;

Phylum: Proteobacteria;

Class: Gammaproteobacteria;

Order: Enterobacteriales;

Family: Enterobacteriaceae;

Genus: Klebsiella;

Species: K. pneumoniae

It is best known for affecting the respiration system. This disease is mostly found in a patient who has weakened immune system be it from other infections or from drinking alcohol. Klebsiella infections is spread through exposure to the bacteria via respiratory tract, which causes pneumonia, or the blood to cause an infection in the bloostream.  K. pneumoniae causes around 5-17% of Urinary Tract Infection's, 7-14% of pneumonia, septicemia, 2-4% of wound infection and 3-20% of all neonatal septicemia cases.
