Answer #1

Answere : Aerobic oxidation of pyruvic acid throughba series of reaction studied by Hans Kreb and hence, the pathway was termed as "krebs cycle". It is also called Tricarboxylic cycle or TCA cycle or citric acid cycle.

Once the pyruvic acid is produced by glycolysis, it enter into the mirochondrial matrix where it is converted to a 2 carbon or 2C acetyl Co-A by decarboxylation reaction. Further breakdown involves a series of reaction of kreb cycle outline beloew :

One reason that explains the need for the isomerization step in the citric acid cycle is that________ citrate is a tertiary alcohol, which cannot be oxidized the substrate is inactive citrate is a β-keto acid and is unstable there are no enzymes that can catalyze this reaction In the CAC reaction with the hydrolysis of succinyl-CoA,          the energy released is used to make GDP α-ketoglutarate is released the energy released is used to make GTP carbon dioxide is released

Continue to draw citric acid cycle intermediates up until a 14C-labeled CO2 molecule is generated by the cycle. How many turns of the citric acid cycle must be made before 14CO2 is released? Which enzymatic reaction in the citric acid cycle first catalyzes the release of 14CO2? The 14C-labled CO2 molecule is from the orginal Carbon #2 carbon on the frutose molecule.
