List and discuss three factors that can be changed to increase rotary stability during human movements.
Rotary stability is the capability to control rotational forces during various movements like running, striking, throwing, swinging and kicking. Rotary stability is helpful to resist rotation through the upper body during upper limb and leg movements.
Factors that can increase the rotary stability are:
Lower center of gravity
Increase body mass
Increase the size of base of support
1. Lower center of gravity: if the position of athlete's is in lower center of gravity, the body is less stable. By maintaining the position at higher center of gravity, the stability can be increased.
2. Increase body mass: a more massive or high weighed athlete is comparatively more stable than athlete with less body mass
3. Increase in the size of base of support: Base of support means the point of contact area on the ground surface with athlete's body.
