Which of the following would be best suited to measure the amount of insulin mRNA produced in a pancreatic cell line?

A. Northern Blot

B. Southern Blot

C. Sanger sequencing

D. Any of these would work

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Northern blotting

Northern blotting is the technique which is used to detect specific RNA sequences in a given transcriptome at a given time. Transcriptome is the whole content of RNA of a cell at a given time.

Southern blotting is the technique which is used to detect specific DNA sequences in the genome of an organism. Genome is the amount of all the DNA present in a cell at a given time.

Sanger Sequencing is the method of determining the sequence of genome of a given organism.
