Select one:

a. True

b. False

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1. True

Lipids compose of non polar hydrocarbon tails and polar hydrophilic tail. Lipids play a major role in cell structure and metabolism. Lipids include fats , saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, phospholipids and sterols. Lipids are non polar and insoluble in water.

2. False

The M phase includes Mitosis and cytokinens. The M Phase represents the phase when the actual cell division or mitosis occurs and the interphase represents the phase between twosuccessive M phases. During metaphase, chromosome is made up of two sister chromatids, which are held together by the centromere called homologous chromosomes. In mitosis one chromosome of each homologous pair comes from the mother and one comes from the father .Homologous chromosomes are similiar but not identical.

A nucleosome is composed of 9 histones (1H1, 2H2A, 2H2B, 2H3, and 2H4) Select one: a. False b. True ----- We established that many growth factors activate the cell cycle by binding to receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK). Sometimes, these RTKs get mutated, and permanently turned “ON.” As a result, the cell cycle is stimulated even in the absence of growth factors. In light of this information, you would label the genes that encode for these RTKs as Select one: a....
