Explain the following observations. Be very specific with your answer.
1. Injecting nanos mRNA into the future anterior end creates a drosophila embryo with two tails.
2. Inject antibodies to dickkopf into embryos results in an embryo with a deformed head – essentially no forebrain.
3. Injection of excess β-catenin into the ventral side of an oocyte, causes a secondary axis to form.
1. Ans- we know that during the embryonic developmental stage Drosophila, the common fruit fly formed of two anterior and posterior structures with the help of two important proteins such as bicoid and Nanos.
Bicoid proteins promotes the formation of action, head and thorax in the anterior structure but Nanos suppresses the formation of head, throax and actin regions to promote telson.
According to the question if Nanos mRNA injected into the anterior end this action leads to suppression of formation anterior structures actin, head and thorax results posterior structure two tails is formed at the supposed anterior end. So in this situation Drosophila formed would have two telson at each end with abdomen in the middle.
