What type of mutation is shown?

:Wildtype sequence

template DNA strand 3’ TACAGTGGGTTC 5’

coding DNA strand 5’ ATGTCACCCAAG 3’

Mutant Sequence:

template DNA strand 3’ TACAATGGGTTC 5’

coding DNA strand 5’ ATGTTACCCAAG 3’

a.) a missense mutation

b.) a frameshift mutation

c.) an exonic mutation

d.) a silent mutation

e.) a nonsense mutation

Answer #1

Ans- a Mis sense mutation.

The difference between the wild type sequence and mutated one is that at 5th place in 3'-5' strand, Guanine is present, while on mutated strand on the same position adenine is present.

So the sequence of DNA that differs is this

AGT - AAG

Wild- mutated

TCA - TTA - Now this is the sequence that is present on 5'-3' strand of both type.

UCA- UUA- this will be sequence on mRNA

Serine- leucine

UCA codes for serine which is second amino acid present in wild type while UUA codes for Leucine as the second amino acid in the mutated strand. So change in the nucleotide causing change in amino acid is known as missense mutation .
