Some people have argued that dissociative disorders (such as dissociative identity disorder) are not real, and that individuals displaying these symptoms are “faking it.”  What evidence might a clinician be able to gather to support one of these assertions?

The basic assertion could be that dissociative disorder have prevailed for number of years about 50 without any evidence of their causative agent to which science cannot determine any clue till date also another theory which prove that people fake up the symptoms of this disorder since child specialist doctors say that children can never remember any life events until the age of three, but quite number of people say that they got affected to this condition in young age of about 1 to 3 which is quite controversial about this mental disorder.
