Question

trait Inheritance of off spring

trait Inheritance of off spring

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Inheritance also called Heredity is passing of parents traits to the offspring by reproduction. The parents pass on the gentic information to their offspring. However, offspring does not look exactly like their parents, that's because at the time of gamete formation, the recombination occurs in the genes of parents, which leads to phenotypically and genotypically different off spring. For a parents trait to be phenotypically apperaed, the gene corresponding to that must have a dominant allele for that trait. A single copy of dominant allele will mask the recessive alleles.

You are examining two traits of a plant called Trait A and Trait B. Each trait is associated with a different gene on a different chromosome. Trait A shows: the same phenotype for both the heterozygous and homozygous dominant allele combinations a different phenotype for the homozygous recessive allele combination. Trait B shows: three different phenotypes, each associated with only one of the three possible allele combinations. A) Describe the type of inheritance associated with Trait A and describe the...

Please answer these questions 1: You conduct an experiment to test inheritance of a trait in pea plants.  You conduct a monohybrid cross with two herterozygous individuals.  From this cross you would expect 25% homozygous dominant, 25% homozygous recessive and 50% heterozygous.  What is the probability that a randomly selected individual will be heterozygous? 2: In the experiment from question 1 what is the probability that 2 individuals out of 10 randomly selected will be heterozygous? 3: In the experiment...
