Compare and contrast flippases, floppases and scramblases with respect to their functions and specific actions.

Compare and contrast flippases, floppases and scramblases with respect to their functions and specific actions.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Flippase- These are transmembrane fat transporter proteins which causes movements of phospholipids across the cell membrane(transverse diffusion).

They generally transports the lipid from exoplasm to the cytoplasm.

Floppase- These transport the lipids from inside the cells to the outside.

The process requires ATP and occurs against the concentration gradient.

Scramblases- these are the transport channels present in the cell membrane that can cause the movement of lipid in any direction according to the equilibrium.
