Both the vitamins & minerals are micronutrients that are essential for body in tiny amounts. There are six classes of nutrients, they are : carbohydrates, protein, fat, water, vitamins & minerals.

Vitamin : they are organic compounds essential for various body functions such as reproduction, repair & body maintenance, growth & development. Vitamins are needed in little amounts only. There are 2 sub parts for vitamins, they are : water soluble & fat soluble. The vitamins are : A D E K C B. Here, vitamins C & B are water soluble, others are fat soluble.

Minerals : they are inorganic compounds required for proper growth & for regulating the processes within the body. Two categories of the minerals are : macrominerals & microminerals. Example : Macromineral : sodium, Micromineral : Zinc.
