how are slime molds and leopard spots related?
Slime molds much of the time consists of a group of single-celled amoebas searching for bacteria to eat. When there is no food supply, then amoebas release a chemical which signals them to clump together, thus forming a multicelled slug. This signal is closely related to nucleotide bases which makes up the nucleic acids i.e., DNA and RNA. This slugs move to dry patch area where it forms spores. During the initial phase of aggregation, the amoebas form a distinctive pattern having oscillation reaction. Beloussov-Zhabotinsky reaction shows that some chemical reaction oscillates and when placed in a gel show colors as the pattern of waves. Both the system have different molecules but their similarities lie in the relationship between the molecules.
