Answer #1

Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by a bacteria Borrelia. It is also called as Lyme borreliosis.

Ticks are the causative agents of this bacterial infection. A person usually gets infected when a tick bites him/her. Mostly the nyphal ticks are carriers for this bacteria rather than adult ticks. Ticks have multiple hosts other than humans like smaller mammals which are reservoirs of this bacteria.

Common symptoms are, expanding area of redness on skin, fever, headache, tiredness etc. Usually the redness appears on the site of tick bite after a week of biting. If such infection left untreated it may cause, loss of ability to move one or both side of face, joint pains, severe headache, stiff neck etc.
