All the cells of the body express the same genes since they do not contain the same DNA.

In 1-2 complete sentences, describe why this claim is FALSE and how you would correct the statement to be TRUE.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The above statement is FALSE.

The correct one will be :-

All the cells of the body contain the same DNA and genes but the expression of gene is different in different cells.

?All the Cell have same DNA and gene. It is because all the cells in our body starts from a single zygote which divide again and again to form a complete foetus (organism). But it the regulation of expression of the gene that leads to different functions of the cell.

?Gene regulation leads to either expression or suppresing of the gene which is called "turned on state" or "turned off state" respectively.

?Each cell turn only limited fraction of gene and rest are turned off . The set of genes expressed will determine the RNA and functional proteins it contains and gives unique properties to cell.
