MCLG - Maximum contamination level goal and MCL - Maximum contamination level

MCLG -level of protection that can be provode against any adverse health effect after exposure to contamination.
For non carcinogens contamination MCLG based on Agency verified Reference dose adjusted the drinking water exposure. For carcinogen there is no threshold level so EPA set MCLG for carcinogrn at zero.

MCL - EPA specifies the treatment technique for contamination.
In non carciogen contamination MCL = MCLG because EPA believes that PWS provide this level of protection.
For carcinogen it is impossibly eliminate the contamination and does not set an zero.
