To see internal controls in action, look around you. When you go to the store, see what types of internal controls you can identify. At your place of work see if you can identify internal controls that might be in place. After checking out some different places, come up with two internal controls you have observed. It can be at your place of business or when you are a customer (and they don't have to be from the same place)....

As you saw from the lab PowerPoint slides last week, you will be doing a research study looking at ‘Aggression Priming” for your first paper. For this week’s discussion, I want you to discuss with your group what you think this study is about. What is the hypothesis? What theory does it come from? What do you predict will happen (do you expect something different than the hypothesis in the researcher instructions? If so, what and why?)? Do you think...

1. Suppose you start graduate school to be a plant physiologist and your first lab rotation is in a lab that studies gibberellic acid (GA) in peas. Unfortunately one of the graduate students in the lab labeled the packets of seeds for two mutants with dry-erase marker instead of permanent marker and the labels rubbed off. One mutant had a defective GA biosynthesis gene and the other had a defective GA receptor gene. Your boss suggested isolating DNA and doing...

CLASS DISCUSSION TOPIC – MAKING PRODUCTION DECISIONS After our tour of demand, this week we learn about the foundations of the supply-side: costing. Let's start the discussion this week by thinking about the supply-side motivations for lowering prices as volume rises. What could account for that and how is it justified on the basis of MEc? Can you think of specific examples of it?
