Active transport occur against concentration gradient and requires ATP

Channel protein spans the entire membrane and can be gated or non gated

Non gated : such channel protein remain open and allow water and other ions to pass through the hydrophobic membrane

Gated: such channel stays closed until it receives a chemical or electrical signal ....our nerve signals are passed on through a gated channel protei
