Although there are various model proposed for encoding spatial memory. The most accepted model is HIPER (hippocampal encoding ) model. According to this model, encoding is performed in the hippocampus roastral region, whereas retrieval is performed in caudal region of hippocampus. Septum , is another region in the hippocampus that is involved with the help of CA3 cells. These cells (CA3) play an important role for encoding spatial memory.
