Distinguish between the process of cellular respiration and fermentation. (4)
Cellular respiration is a metabolic process in which glucose breaks down and produce ATP while fermentation is conversion of sugar into acid or alcohol with the help of vacterba or yeast.
Differences-
1.Cellular respiration is more efficient than fermentation in energy(ATP) production.
2.Cellular respiration yield 38ATP but only 2ATP molecules are produced in fermentation.
3.Cellular respiration requires Oxygen while fermentation is an anaerobic process.
4.Oxygen is the final electron acceptor in cellular respiration while pyruvate in case of fermentation.
5.In cellular respiration ,glycolysis takes place in cytoplasm while in fermentation all reactions takes place in cytoplasm.
