Name three enzymes involved in the
digestion of carbohydrates and where they are found
The enzymes that are used in
digestion of carbohydrates are:
- Salivary amylase: this is the
enzyme that would be present in the saliva of an individual, which
would be acting on the starch present in the food, breaking it down
to maltose.
- Pancreatic amylase: this is the
enzyme, which is a combination of juices coming from the various
organs, such that there would be release of polysaccharides for
breaking units of disaccharide into maltose.
- Pancreatic lipase: this is the
triglycerides lipase that would be used for breaking down the
dietary molecules of fat, present in the digestive system, such
that it would be convert triglyceride in to monoglycerides.
