Strawberry fruit is not considered as berry because it is etaerio of achenes (achenes: one seeded, dry indehiscent fruit) type of fruit where the achenes fruitlets (collection of small fruits) are aggregated on the thalamus that develops from single flower with multicarpellary apocarpus ovary and the main edible parts are fleshy thalamus, not the ovary. The ovary is edible part of berry type of fruit (fleshy indehiscent fruit) and the berry is develops from multicarpellary, syncarpous ovary.
