In the beginning of chapter-20 you learned that for many diseases, a penetration of the mechanical barriers surrounding the human body must take place. Can you think of any disease where penetration is not a prerequisite to illness?
For microbiology
Bacteria produces toxin for the body thus causing disease. Toxins are endotoxins i.e. produced within the bacterial cells hence bacteria should be penetrated in the body if it want to generate disease symptom.
Another one toxin is exotoxin which is produced by bacteria outside the cell. Such toxin if penetrate in the body (no need for bacteria to penetrate here) show disease. For example botulism the exotoxin botulin is produced by bacteria in food so food ingestion will take toxin in the body that cause the disease which require no penetration of bacteria in the body so it is not a prerequisite for illness.
