The ocean is considered an oligotrophic environment, however the introduction of excess fertilizer from farm land can change this. Use the following terms correctly to describe the carbon cycle at the surface of the ocean before and after the introduction of excess nutrient: source, sink, reservoir

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ocean is the source of carbon . The rocks present in the ocean are the reservoir of the carbon. These Rocks degrade and release carbon content in surrounding. Now the use of excessive fertilizer adversely affect the concentration of carbon in the ocean . Humans use ocean like a sink for the disposal or organic and inorganic matter. In case of land excessive fertilizer leached out with rain water and in last all these fall down in ocean. So humans for their benefits completely distrub the nature.
