Ans. Green chicken formation is a characterisitc feature of the disease known as green muscle disease. It is characterised by deep necrosis and pectoral muscular atrophy. The restriction of blood supply to the tender muscles would result in the above situation. The situation is mostly observed in commercially raised chickens and can be obtained by rendering the chicken inactiv efor a span of fe days while the chicken is still growing. thus the degeneration of tissues and cell death would occur. Subjecting the chicken to sudden wing flapping would aggravate the situation in such case and promoting deep pectoral myopathy.
