Name the steps in mitosis.
Mitosis has four important steps: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase.
Apart from these four steps, another step called interphase helps in the preparation for cell division. Preparation for mitosis includes Cell growth, duplication of the genome, checking if the duplication of the genome was done properly. These phases are G1, S, and G2.
Prophase: DNA and chromatin condensation into chromosomes takes place.
Metaphase: DNA in the form of chromosomes arranges themselves in the middle of the cell, in the imaginary line called the metaphase plate.
Anaphase: Separation of chromosomes begins when chromosomes start moving towards two opposite poles. karyokinesis begins.
Telophase: Separation chromosomes take place, karyokinesis completes, cytokinesis is initiated and completed by the end of telophase.
