You are pipetting reagents with a non-filtered sterile micropipett tip. Eventually you need to pipette DNA/RNA. Do you continue by attaching a new non-filtered sterile pipette tip to your micropipettor, or do you choose a filtered pipette tip? Why?
Filter tips should be used.
Filter tips are used to avoid cross-contamination between the samples. When you take out samples using non-filtered tips, accidentally there might be a possibility of contaminating the edge (or end) of the micropipette. But if you use a filter tip, the excess sample will be absorbed by the filter and there won't be any possibility of cross-contamination. At the time of doing molecular biology works with DNA and RNA, due to cross-contamination, there might be a possibility of getting false positive or false negative result. That is why it is more secured to use filter tips.
