Homework Answers

Answer #1

1. True In photosynthesis, sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide interact in order to produce oxygen and glucose.

It is an anabolic process.

2. False, All photons of light at any wavelength do not carry the same amount of energy. Energy is inversely proportional to the wavelength of light .Red waves have a long wavelength so they have less energy. Violet waves are much shorter. So they carry the most energy.

3. True, Homeostasis in humans is maintained mostly through negative feedback loops.

Negative feedback loop is a reaction that causes a decrease in function due to some kind of stimulus. For example blood sugar regulation by insulin and glucagon.

4. False, in autotrophs cellular respiration occurs. Autotrophs also burn glucose to form ATP.

5. True, There is currently an obesity epidemic in United States.

Approximately 34% of adults and 15-20 % of children in U.S. are obese.
