A chicken wing was tested for the amount of bacteria on its surface. The chicken wing was rinsed with water and then the wash fluid was serial diluted. The same volume of a final dilution was plated out on TSA and EMB plates. Would you expect more colonies on the TSA or EMB plates? Explain your answer.

TSA ( Trypticase soy agar) is used for isolation and cultivation of wide variety of microorganisms both Gram positive and Gram negative.

EMB(Eosine methylene blue agar) is selective and differential medium. It is selective for Gram negative bacteria and differential for coliforms.

Chicken wings contain variety of microbes. When we inoculate sample from chicken wing TSA media gives best results becouse variety of microbes can grow as compared to EMB agar medium. On EMB agar only Gram negative and coliforms will grow
