Homework Answers

Answer #1

4) Number of insertions

Muscles are classified based on its shape, size, location, number of origins and its action. Gluteal muscles of the buttocks are named based on their size and location. Some examples of muscles based on origin are biceps brachii, triceps brachii and the pectoralis major. Flexor carpi is based on action and based on shape, deltoids is one example. The body mainly consists of three types of muscle tissue-- skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, and smooth muscle.
