Explain why cellular respiration was not as effective at temperatures other than the optimum. Remember: a) cellular respiration is a series of chemical reactions occurring in the cell, and b) all chemical reactions within a cell require a special kind of protein.
Because on increasing the temperature the enzymes get denatured. So in human being as the temp increases above 98.5 F, body performs sweating.Optimum tem is required for the functioning of this enzymes .In cold Shivering occurs to produces heat in the body to maintains body temperature. It is based on the concepts of collision theory. For ex in yeast in the anaerobic respiration as the temp increases the amount of CO2 production increases , more energy is required for attaining the activation energy ,so rate of reaction decreases .
